The Moto G 5G and Moto G Pro 5G, the first 5G mid-range smartphones from Motorola were released in 2020. Earlier last year, the company expanded its range of 5G smartphones and also revolutionized its lineup of Moto G smartphones with the usual dozen structure. Which Samsung uses – Moto G10, G20, and so on. However, the company still has a few releases that escape this naming structure such as Moto G Prime, Stylus and etc. Now, the company is planning to revisit the Moto G 5G series with a new model. The only way to differentiate it would be 2022 which would follow the name. This is not our preferred nomenclature, but it is widely used by many brands. Today, the first details about the Moto G 5G (2022) have surfaced.
It looks like Motorola is planning a new smartphone called “Austin”. The new handset will pack codenamed “Austin” and pack a focused punch-hole display as well as a triple-camera system at the back. Motorola Moto G 5G (2022) will pack a 50 MP main camera and more details were revealed. A new set of renders surfaced from the folks at OnLeaks in collaboration with Prepp.in. He revealed that there is a Motorola Austin Moto G 5G (2022).
Motorola Moto G 5G (2022) Alleged Specifications
The source further revealed that the model code of Motorola Moto G 5G (2022) is XT2213. The device flaunts a 6.6-inch screen and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset. The leak further states that the phone will run on Android 11. It’s really shocking at this point of the year. We know that some brands were still releasing Android 11 smartphones in February, but as the months go by, it is becoming difficult to digest. Android 12 has been out for several months already, and Google is moving ahead with its Android 13 development.
The Motorola Moto G 5G (2022) has a volume rocker on the right-hand frame. It also has a power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner. There is a USB Type C port at the bottom of the handset, with a speaker on the side. In addition, there is a microphone and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The source further states that the Moto G 5G (2022) is 9.3mm thick, but if you count with the camera bump, it rises to 10.7mm. The handset has 4 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 512 GB. The phone also draws its powers from a 5,000 mAh battery.
The 50MP main camera on the back is joined by 8MP and 2MP cameras. The high resolution of the second snapper suggests that it is an ultrawide snapper. That’s good news, because we’re seeing companies ditch the ultrawide for the non-useful macro + depth combo. The third camera would, obviously, be suitable for either macro or depth purpose. One thing to note is that this is speculation on our part, the exact purpose of each sensor is not disclosed.
Motorola Moto G 5G (2022) will come in Volcano Gray and Frosted Silver colorways. The leaks are coming to the fore much ahead of the expected release as the device may hit the market only in June. It will cost INR 22,990 ($300 / €275). We can see releases in major markets like Europe, India, US, UK and Brazil.
Android 11bit is a bit controversial when the company is trying to improve its reputation with updates. It recently rolled out the 2020 Android 12 update for the Moto G Pro and the Moto G30. Given the fact that June is a bit far away, we believe there is hope for Android 12 until the actual release.
