iPadOS 16 will bring floating windows in apps if external keyboards are connected

The new iPads are now available for purchase and the first units are beginning to reach the winners. The novelties introduced by Apple bring the iPad Air closer to the Pro models, giving them more power and increasingly powerful hardware. However, for the productivity and efficiency of the iPad to work perfectly, it must there is a synergy between software and hardware. A new rumor suggests that iPadOS 16 will allow launching floating apps without on-screen keyboard as long as there is an external keyboard connected to the device.

Floating windows without an on-screen keyboard could be coming to iPadOS 16

iPadOS 16 will be released at WWDC 2022 which will take place in the month of June. At the event we will know all the news of all the new operating systems: watchOS, tvOS, iOS, iPadOS and macOS. Perhaps we will have surprise in each and every one of the software. However, Rumors begin to flood the network.

In this case, Majin Buu in his twitter account ensures that Apple will introduce apps with floating windows in iPadOS 16 when external devices are connected. That is, when we have an external keyboard connected via Bluetooth, iPadOS will understand that we do not need the keyboard on the screen and it will display applications without keyboard on the screen and floating windows.

Apple is developing a smart system for iPadOS. Apps will continue to open full screen but automatically shrink when connected to keyboard and trackpad. Internally it is called Apple Mixer. We don’t know if it will be included in iPadOS 16 or not, It should be M1 iPad exclusive. pic.twitter.com/1WfMj5TGue

In this way, users will be able to have several applications in several different windows at the same time. If we take a little imagination, we can see a parallel between macOS and its window-based interface, as in other operating systems. It is unknown if this feature would reach all iPads. It is also not known if there would be changes to the display when we connect or disconnect the keyboard itself. We will be able to reveal all this and much more at WWDC 2022.
