On other occasions we have seen the possibilities of Kodi when using it to access Netflix, to watch DTT or even to access all the Pluto TV channels. And now, in a new chapter we are going to see how we can take advantage of Kodi to watch Disney+ and what advantages it offers compared to the original application.
To be able to watch Disney+ on Kodi, the first thing we are going to need is an obvious thing: be subscribed to the platform. Without that there is nowhere to go. The rest is just following a series of steps within Kodi to configure it properly. Also, let’s see What advantages does it offer compared to its use in the original app?.
Disney+ on Kodi
With Netflix installed on our television, set-top box or compatible device, the first thing is to download the Slyguay repository. To do so we go to “Settings” and we look for the “File Browser” and click on “Add source”.
We will see a new screen and in the box to write we will have to enter the address of the repository “http://k.slyguy.xyz/” without the quotes. Then, in the name field, we write “Slyguy” and click OK.
Now we must return to “Main menu” and in the section “Add-ons” click on the box-shaped icon. We will look for the option “Install from zip file” and as source we will choose “Slyguy”which is the one we created earlier.
we will see a warning message about manually updating repositories. We confirm by clicking on “Yes” and continue.
pressing a zip file will appear which is the repository and to install it we just have to click on it.
With the repository installed, we go back again, to the box-shaped icon and there we choose the option “Install from repository”. we have to choose “SlyGuy repository”.
At that point we must go back and “Add-ons” look for the section “Video” and within this, “Disney+”. There we click on the “Install” option. We will see a box at the top of the screen with the progress of the installation and at the end, we will be able to use the Disney+ addon on the platform.
Configure Kodi
We can already Disney + or configure it in the “Parameters” section (We can also do it once we have registered. It is recommended to go to the “Advanced” section and click on “(Re)Install Widevine CDM”.
A message warns us that we must install “Inputstream Adaptive” and there we will have to choose the latest version available.
The objective is improve image quality, as it allows resolutions of 720p on PC and up to 4K with H.265 codec on Android devices with Widevine L1 certification. This benefits, among others, the Fire TV Stick 4K, the Nvidia Shield or the Xiaomi Mi Box S.
We have already configured it and now we just have to log in in our Disney+ account.
The difference with respect to the original app is that here we will use the classic interface of Kodisomething that does not prevent us from using the rest of the options of the Disney + app.
The contents appear divided by typology, favorites, created lists, series, central hubs… it also offers a content search engine and the application’s characteristic Hubs. All that yes, under the Kodi interface.
Advantages of using Disney+ on Kodi
In addition, the parameters can be configured once we have logged in and for example choose the soundtrack with Dolby Digital+, while if we access from the browser we only get stereo audio. Likewise, if we use this system on an Nvidia Shield or a Fire Stick 4K, Kodi will allow us to play an Atmos track in Dolby Digital Plus whenever it is available.
As well we can choose the bitrate, something that you will appreciate especially with poor connections or if we use Kodi on a smartphone. In addition, with Kodi 19 you can also customize the subtitles or take screenshots of the content.
