Realme GT 2 launched in India with Snapdragon 888 and more

Earlier this month, Realme unveiled the Realme GT 2 Pro and a bunch of other products in India. Curiously, the vanilla Realme GT 2 that went official in China was absent from the April 7 event. We were beginning to believe that Realme would not launch a vanilla smartphone in the Indian market. However, the device was a bit “delayed”. Today, Realme is revealing the vanilla Realme GT2 which is more affordable but brings last year’s Snapdragon 888 SoC. Anyway, it’s still a better offering than last year’s Realme GT 5G.

Realme GT 2 Specifications

The Realme GT 2 sports a 6.62-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The panel also offers 10240-level brightness adjustment. In addition, there is a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 1000 Hz intelligent instantaneous touch sampling rate.

Under the hood, the phone packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and packs up to 12GB of RAM. The phone has an X-axis linear vibration motor and 4D vibration engine. In terms of optics, the phone comes with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a 2MP macro camera. There is a 16MP selfie snapper for selfies and video calls.

The Realme GT 2 runs Android 12 with Realme UI 3.0. According to Realme, the phone will receive three Android upgrades. Hence it will receive Android 13, Android 14 and even Android 15. However, given the company’s track record, the update is not expected to arrive soon after Google’s release. Anyway, the phone will also get security patch updates for up to four years.

The Realme GT 2 features a HyperSmart antenna switching technology, a black AG glass back model, and a matte finish. The phone has White and Green colors with Paper Tech Master Design. Furthermore, it packs a 5,000 mAh battery with 65 W wired fast charging and can charge up to 100 percent in just 33 minutes. Other features include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint scanner and dual SIM capabilities. The phone obviously comes with 5G connectivity, but that won’t make a difference in India, at least not until the deployment of 5G networks.
