How to hide the name of apps and folders on iPhone

Share

With this trick you can remove icon and folder names from your iPhone and iPad.

The indicator screen of the iPhone has not undergone many changes in its history, we have a grid of icons in rows and columns with your name just below. In the ultra versions, we add widgets to the icons. Nevertheless, Apple does not allow to hide the name of the icons and folders, are always present centered just below the icon. But we are going to explain a trick to eliminate them completely.

To create an unnamed folder or icon in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, we have to resort to Unicode, which includes some interesting characters that remain invisible when we type them. The problem is that not all users are aware of these icons, which are also not available on the iPhone keyboard.

If you have ever tried to leave the name of a mask empty, you will see how iOS does not allow it and defaults to the name that was already configured. However, using one of the Unicode secret characters we can remove the name of any folder on the iPhone.

A normal space (U+0020) is invisible, iOS or iPadOS prevents it from being used as a folder name because Apple thinks you just accidentally hit the space bar. To trick iOS or iPadOS into accepting a blank folder name, you must use a less common invisible character. There are three characters that work: the U+2800, the U+3164 and the U+FFA0.

[â €] U+2800

The steps to put a blank name in an IOS folder are as follows:

  1. Copy the space between the two brackets from the top table.
  2. Keep the iPhone home screen long press until the icons move.
  3. Click on the file.
  4. Tap on the Name and delete it.
  5. Hold and tap on Paste and in To accept.

To remove the name of an icon the steps are similar, although it is not as easy as with a folder. In order to have an icon without a name, we must use the same trick as to change the icon of an app: use the Shortcuts app.

  • Open the Shortcuts app and tap the “+” from top right.
  • Click on add action.
  • In the search bar type “Open app” and click on this action.
  • Now click on Select and choose the app.
  • Click on Following.
  • Locate the shortcut you have created and click on the 3 points from the top right of the shortcut.
  • Once inside the shortcut press again on the 3 points from top right.
  • Now click on Add to home screen.
  • Tap on the “x” and copy and paste the space between the two brackets from the top table
  • Click on the down icon and in select photo To choose an image, we recommend that you have downloaded the app icon first.
  • Choose icon image and press Add.

Ready, you will have an icon with a direct access to the app that does not have a name. It is a very interesting trick that not only allows you to change the icon of any app, but also you can have an icon with an invisible name. A unique customization option.
