Windows 11 KB5012643 Update Released With Improvements

Windows 11 KB5012643 is now available for download for all users, with a few notable changes and a host of additional bug fixes. The new update is distributed via Windows Update and WSUS as always. However, you can also manually install Windows 11 KB5012643 via offline installers. Offline installation files can be useful when users are unable to install the patch using normal methods.

Windows 11 KB5012643 update came as an optional cumulative preview update and is set to test the changes expected to come with the May 2022 Tuesday Update. Like other optional updates, this cumulative update is not automatically downloaded and installed on your system unless you check and manually initiate the download.

This isn’t a huge release, but a few quality improvements have been made. For example, Microsoft added a new feature to display the temperature above the weather icon added to the taskbar with the April 2022 Update.

Microsoft fixed an issue where the operating system misaligned video subtitles, and another bug where video subtitles were partially cut off. However, changes have been made so that users can use Windows window controls such as minimize, maximize, and close buttons more efficiently. Let’s take a closer look at what awaits us:

How to Install Windows 11 KB5012643?

This optional update is available through Windows Update in Settings. However, you can download offline installation packages with the .msu extension from the Microsoft Update Catalog links below.

Additionally, downloading the update package is now much easier on browsers like Google Chrome. Previously, Microsoft offered updates in the Update Catalog via the insecure connection HTTP. As a result, Google blocked users from opening the .msu file directly in the current tab. Update links are now served over HTTPS and Google no longer prevents users from opening .msu download links.
