If just yesterday Mark Zuckergerg announced that the reactions of WhatsApp were beginning to unfold, now it has been WhatsApp itself that has confirmed the launch of this other features coming soon to the app.
The first is the reactions, which despite the fact that Zuckerberg and WhatsApp assure that they are already available to us, for now, they do not appear to us. Secondly, WhatsApp has increased the maximum file size that we can send through the app and, finally, the number of people who can participate in a group has been increased.
From 100 MB to 2 GB and I throw because it’s my turn
On the one hand, reactions. These allow us react, excuse the redundancy, to the messages of a chat with emojis (👍❤️😂😲😥🙏) in the purest Slack or Telegram style. No surprise, except that WhatsApp has confirmed that they will add “many more expressions” in the future. In theory they are already available, but they do not appear to us for now.
On the other hand, it is already possible (again, in theory, because we have the updated app and we cannot) send files up to 2 GB. This is a significant improvement over the previous limit, which was 100 MB. The files sent will keep the end-to-end encryption and, in addition, we will be able to see a counter while we download or send files to know how long it takes for the transfer to finish.
Finally, WhatsApp has announced that they are working on increasing the maximum number of participants in a group. The current limit is 256 people and WhatsApp intends to duplicate, that is, take it to 512 people. This makes sense, as communities are just around the corner and increasing the number of users in each group seems potentially necessary.
Be that as it may, it seems that WhatsApp is taking the rollout of these functions with some calm. Although they say that they are already available, they do not seem to be activated for the majority of users. We will have to wait.
