Starfield’s main quest is about 20% larger than previous Bethesda games such as Skyrim and Fallout 4, which Todd Howard said means it should take about 30 to 40 hours to complete—without stepping up to side content.
Speaking to IGN after the gameplay reveal at the Xbox-Bethesda Showcase, Bethesda veteran and Starfield director Todd Howard said the game’s main story is longer than usual, as there are too many quests.
“It’s going to end a bit long [than our previous games] And we can still tune it,” he said. “It’s more discovery, so it could be 20% higher than our previous ones.”
Howard said, although players’ mileage can vary, he said, some take longer than others to complete it, if the previous game’s main quest was pegged at 25 hours, Starfield’s “30”. In the decade of, maybe in the 40s”. As a point of comparison, IGN sister site How Long to Beat estimates that Skyrim Special Edition takes players 25.5 hours to complete the main quest, while Fallout 4 takes about 27 hours.
Power through the main quest isn’t how Bethesda games are typically played, of course, with side quests, faction routes to explore, base-building, and so on, diverting players’ attention away from Starfield and Starfield. In the same respect will be the same as in the previous title. In fact, it should offer significantly more content in the form of 1000 fully exploreable planets, offering procedurally generated content that no player will possibly ever be able to see at all.
Howard believes the modding community will keep Starfield fresh for a long time, even on top of the DLC expansion Bethesda will inevitably build.
“We’ve learned that people play our games for a really, really long time,” he said. “They’re still playing Skyrim — not for 10 years straight, but they drop it and they come back and there’s extra content. Of course we’re going to do extra stuff for this game, and we Love our modding community. We really think this game, for our modding community, is going to be a dream because they can do so much.”
Starfield Combat and Exploration – Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022
Howard took the first deep dive into Starfield’s gameplay during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12. He revealed that the game will feature over a thousand planets for players, what seems like a lot of customization options, and Star Wars dog fighting in space.
Players are also speculating whether Our Own Solar System will be a plot point in the game, but Bethesda has confirmed at least some story details for a new trailer, though fans are no doubt sure that Starfield’s Will continue to be analyzed and speculated about until it is finally released in 2023. ,
