Big changes in sight for the celebrated team of heroes of Marvel comics. Dan Slott, a cartoonist well known to mainstream audiences for writing the Fantastic 4 stories in recent years, will leave the script of the current run. Issue # 46, arriving in August, will therefore represent the end of his four-year writing path.
Dan Slott is leaving the Fantastic 4 script
The announcement came from Marvel itself, confirming it as Dan Slott’s groundbreaking cycle is about to come to a surprising conclusion. The number will see the introduction of Nathaniel Richards’ long-lost daughter, as well as Reed’s sister, aka Mr. Fantastic.
At the moment we do not know who will be the creative team that will take the reins of Slott, while the number 47 will have a story connected to the AX: Judgment Day crossover eventdesigned by Juann Cabal and written by David Pepose.
After a ten-year run on the Spider-Man comic, Slott became the screenwriter of the Fantastic 4 in 2018bringing to life great stories including the wedding of Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters, the events of Empyre, the wedding of Doctor Doom, and most recently the saga Reckoning War.
A few numbers are missing at 50, it seems obvious how Marvel can make an announcement in the short term. The same goes for the long-awaited big-screen reboot of the Fantastic 4: initially the direction was entrusted to Jon Watts, but the director has decided to abandon the project to devote himself to something else.
After the unexpected cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness it is rumored that John Krasinski may be taking the reins of the film, both as the protagonist and as director, but at the moment nothing is confirmed yet.
Still on the subject of Marvel Comics announcements, we remind you that Joe Quesada has decided to leave the House of Ideas after over thirty years of honorable service. He was responsible, as editor in chief, for the birth of Marvel Knights, the necklace that in 1998 gave new luster to characters like Doctor Strange, Daredevil and the Inhumans, as well as giving birth to the second Black Widow, Yelena Belova.
