Assassin’s Creed: change the covers on Xbox, rebranding of the series in progress?

Looking forward to this evening’s Ubisoft Forward, Assassin’s Creed returns to being the center of attention for Xbox players. As reported on Twitter, in fact, some chapters of the series have received a change of cover on the store of the Microsoft home console. The new covers are practically identical for all the recent chapters of the series and this decidedly unexpected maneuver has led to some speculation regarding the next moves of the French Canadian publisher and developer.

As reported by Idle Sloth, at the moment the games in the series that have undergone a cover change are Valhalla, Rogue, Odyssey and Origins. According to some theories circulated already during this week, Ubisoft would be preparing to launch new Assassin’s Creed games on Xbox Game Pass and this sort of rebranding of the series could anticipate this decision. Furthermore, it is not excluded that during today’s evening the presence of Mirage on the Microsoft home service will not be announced since day one.

Clearly, at least for now, we are in the midst of rumors and speculations. Certainly the rebranding of some games in the series suggests that Ubisoft wants to convey a sense of continuity between the various titles of the franchise and perhaps their introduction on the Game Pass must also go down this path. It is unclear if this rebranding is also underway on PlayStation, but it is very likely that we will know more over the next few hours.

The Ubisoft Forward will be held this evening around 21:00 Italian time. In addition to the future of Assassin’s Creed, the event should also reveal some news related to games not yet announced by the French Canadian publisher and developer, as well as new product trailers of which we already know exist. Keep following Tom’s Hardware for all the news and announcements in the pipeline from the world of video games.
