According to what is reported by the users of the MSI_Gaming subreddit, it seems that Microsoft has recently released a new update of Windows 11 that blocks software undervolting and overvolting on the motherboards of MSI which use processors Intel.
Unfortunately, the update responsible for this behavior has not yet been precisely identified, but MSI is already working to solve the problem and publish a new BIOS as soon as possible that will bring the situation back to normal (motherboards with 600 chipset already have this fix).
Apparently, the patch released by Microsoft automatically enables the Virtualization-based Security (VBS) in Windows 11 (a feature also known as “Memory Integrity” in the security app of Windows 10 and Windows 11), which blocks access to certain registers of the operating system, including those required for software overclocking. This not only makes it impossible to overvolt and undervolt the CPU with software tools, such as XTUbut monitoring applications (such as CPU-Z) may also malfunction.
Fortunately, the problem can also be solved quite simply. In fact, just start the “Windows Security” program, go to the “Device Security” section and disable the “Core Isolation” feature.
