The Last of Us is a cult series that everyone knows. And this despite only two parts and the appearance of games only on PlayStation consoles. For this reason, the HBO series, based on the game, met with great interest.
At the end of September, the first trailer of the series premiered The Last of Us. Comments from people outraged that the actress playing Ellie did not resemble the heroine from the game began to appear on the web.

Already at the beginning of 2021, we found out who will play the roles of Joel and Ellie. But the premiere of the trailer once again led to criticism of the casting election, especially the impersonator of the young heroine – Bella Ramsey.

Does the character in the show have to faithfully resemble the character in the original work?
It goes without saying that Bella Ramsey is not like Ellie from the game The Last of Us. Contrary to some comments from Internet users, this does not mean, however, that the HBO series will be a complete failure for this reason. Often, when we see characters in a given medium, it is difficult for us to imagine them differently.
An example would be Harry Potterwhere the three main characters differ from their acting counterparts. Hermione had apparently protruding teeth and still matted hair, Harry was very thin and short with bony knees. Ron, on the other hand, had too large hands and feet and a long nose. However, no one is now outraged that the choice of actors spoiled the entire reception of the films.
Creators of the series The Last of Us they needed an actress with the skills and one who could look real at fourteen. Bella Ramsey is already nineteen years old, but thanks to the appropriate makeup, she has managed to rejuvenate her, and in later seasons she will be able to play the older Ellie without any problems.
It seems that the outrage of some people is definitely exaggerated and Ellie’s appearance in the game is not the final determinant. There are various factors that need to be taken into account when selecting the cast, beauty alone cannot be used. And making fun of someone’s image doesn’t help.
