Must be “G” TV: Google runs this 30-second ad on YouTube for Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch


October 6th is fast approaching and on that date, Google will unveil the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel Watch, and some Nest products. There is also a rumor that Google will also preview next year’s Pixel tablet and foldable Pixel Notepad. For Pixel fans looking to push their friends back who use the Apple ecosystem, these are really exciting times.

Google promotes its new phones and smartwatches by running this ad on YouTube

Google is promoting the Pixel 7 line and Pixel Watch with a running ad on YouTube. This certainly makes sense, as millions of people watch YouTube every day (as of this past July that figure is more than 122 million daily). And since YouTube is owned by Google, the cost of placing ads passes from one Google entity to another. Good.

The 30-second ad is called “Get Ready for Google Pixel 7: A Phone That Gives You More”. According to the video, the Pixel 7 series cameras give you more detail, more focus, more magic (like the Magic Eraser, a feature to remove unwanted distractions from a photo) and much more. Then we get to see the Pixel Watch showing Google Maps navigation (don’t blink or you’ll miss it).

Also in the ad is the already released Pixel Buds Pro which we see in the ear of a woman exercising. And in case you were wondering, an image of a chipset has appeared on the screen with a “G2” marking indicating that the Pixel 7 series will be powered by the second-generation Google Tensor chipset. The voice-over announcer says, “Get ready for more Google Pixels. If you want to be reminded to watch the live stream, go to Googlestore.com/events and click the “Add to Calendar” button to see the event listed. Tap on Your Google Calendar. While the phone’s aesthetics may be nothing more than a slew of changes, it looks like the new model will have some sort of facial recognition system. In fact, we’re going to call it the laundry list of those things. We’ll include what we want to see on the new phone:


  • face unlock.
  • better modem.
  • Long lasting battery.
  • Fast fast charging.
  • Ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor.

We’d also like to see Google reward customers who offer a great deal on trade-ins toward new handsets through thick and thin with the Pixel 6 line. You may recall that Google allowed people with a 2019 Pixel 3a or Pixel 3a XL to trade in their phones and get a $300 credit for Pixel 6a purchases. With the credits, the new mid-ranger cost only $149 before any applicable taxes were added. It’s a good deal that Google ended at the end of last month.

Pricing for the Pixel 7 lineup is expected to remain the same as the launch day prices of the Pixel 6 series

We expect the price of the Pixel 7 series to remain the same with the basic model starting at $599 and the Pro model starting at $899 and above. Reportedly, the Pixel 7 will be available with 128GB and 256GB of storage. Pixel 7 Pro will be available with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage. It is same as last year.

For the Pixel Watch, rumors call for a 1.18-inch display with some of the same features found on other smartwatches, including a heart rate monitor, electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor, blood oxygen monitor, and more . It will also be equipped with Google Assistant integration and will be powered by Samsung’s older Exynos 9110 chipset (from 2018) with a Cortex-M33 co-processor.

The Pixel Watch could be equipped with 2GB of RAM as well as 32GB of native storage. A 300mAh battery is expected to last a full day on a single charge. The reaction to comparing it to the Apple Watch would be knee-jerk.
