Flying letters and an excellent open source keyboard: with Effected Keyboard you will write in a unique way

In the huge list of Android keyboards you can find applications with unique designs and styles, but none like Effected Keyboard: its particular way of representing the keys pressed transforms the typing experience. Simple, based on open source and with letters that fly across the screen when typing.

Choosing a keyboard for the phone is usually a matter of taste. There are usually a handful of options among the most common: Gboard, SwiftKey, Chrooma, Samsung’s keyboard… They’re all good, reliable, secure, and highly customizable, but they’re not the only ones: venturing beyond the usual brings some surprise. Florisboard is one such example. Or Effected Keyboard, a simple keyboard that makes the representation of keystrokes its main way of standing out.

Letters that fly to the Matrix

Effected Keyboard applies a curious effect to keystrokes: when you press any of them, the letter or symbol it represents flies vertically towards the center of the screen. When writing continuously, especially if the writing has a certain speed, the effect achieved is that of the typical Matrix waterfall, but in reverse.

The best Android keyboard for me is still one that died years ago

The keyboard we are talking about is based on AnySoftKeyboard, a well-known open source application that provides a large part of said code, as well as its translations. Because Effected Keyboard is compatible with a huge number of languages, including Spanish. It is enough to download it from the keyboard settings (after it is applied by sliding your finger on the space key).

Three different themes to choose from (at the moment Effected Keyboard does not offer an automatic mode depending on whether it is night or day), the option to minimally customize the arrangement of letters and symbols, it is possible to activate or not the vibration, the haptic response when pressing the keys and Effected Keyboard also allows the crown jewel: choose whether the letters fly over the screen.

Effected Keyboard

Since it is the most iconic part of the app, the keys that rise when pressed achieve a hypnotic effect that suits the keyboard well. This effect is achieved with keyboard overlay on top of the rest of the apps, a permission with certain privacy risks (full overlay requires in-app payment). Even so, the application does not share any information on the Internet, nor does it collect user data. And, as we said, it is based on the Open Source AnySoftKeyboard app.

Effected Keyboard is free, ad-free and works great as a basic keyboard. It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
