Miui 12.5 has brought the possibility of activating this functionality on our devices
For this reason, Xiaomi at the time activated a new functionality called Memory Extension to help have more RAM memory available on our devices.
What is Xiaomi Memory Extension

- We open the settings menu on our Xiaomi smartphone.
- We go down in the settings menu until we find additional settings.
- Once inside, we go down until we find Memory Extension or Memory Extension.
- If we activate it, the system will need to be restarted, adding an additional 3GB of RAM to our system if possible.

The next time we want to deactivate the function we will have to restart the mobile again.

Why activate Memory Extension on our smartphone
Although it is true that today we are not going to have problems in general with our smartphones and we should not have a problem with RAM memory either, enabling the Memory Extension function might be a great idea a priori.
Activating the function will help to have a better management of the RAM memory in our device and will also speed up the operating system, making the applications more free to run on our mobile.
Why not activate Memory Extension on our smartphone
Although it is true that activating this function can be essential in our device, especially if we have a device that has little RAM, could slow down video games.
By using the storage memory and not the RAM, normally the applications that use the RAM tend to run more smoothly, so we get a better execution of them. By cons, if we run a game in storage memory, since it is not so fast, the games will not run as smoothly.
In summary, if we have a mobile with which we are not going to play much and we have enough storage space, we strongly recommend activating this function to help our terminal. Otherwise, it is better to leave it disabled.
