Vodafone launches Home 5G and a new router with up to 1 Gbps. In eight cities you can even forget about fiber


Vodafone continues to bet on renewing its network and is already testing its FWA 5G connection of up to 1 Gbps in some cities in Spain. An alternative to bring the network of networks to more depopulated areas than is based on the use of 3GPP architectures and common mobile components.

FWA makes use of the high-throughput bandwidth on the n78 3.6 GHz frequency and the MIMO system integrated into the antennas to use the full potential of the connections to provide coverage to wireless clients.without affecting the performance of other users of the mobile network.

Vodafone Hogar 5G will use for its FWA service a new router of the company that responds to the name of GigaCube. With this model, Vodafone ensures that gigabit speeds of the mobile network can be achieved. The signal can be distributed to the rest of the house by Wi-Fi 6 or by cable with any of the two LAN ports that it incorporates, one of them 2.5 Gb.

For now, Vodafone Hogar 5G is available in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Bilbao and La Coruaand the company affirms that the intention is to make it reach 65 cities.

Price and availability

Vodafone Hogar 5G can be contracted from November 29 for 31 euros in base price. It has three modalities, all of which include FWA access of up to 1 Gbps, a fixed telephone line with unlimited calls to national landlines and mobiles. The other two modalities group an unlimited mobile line in the first case and additionally TV in the second.

To these figures we must add the GigaCube router, a model that is priced at 180 euros and to be paid in installments in each monthly payment in a total of 36 monthly installments of 5 euros. After this time the router, free and category 18, becomes the property of the client.

  • Vodafone Home 5G Unlimited Basic: add a mobile line with unlimited calls and data at 10 Mbps per 49 euros per month.
