Use your mobile as a PC with Windows 10 and 11: they have managed to install the system on Android smartphones and the result is surprising

A smartphone working as a personal computer with the latest Microsoft system. Renegade Project has achieved an interesting feat: they have managed to execute Windows 10 and 11 natively on Android smartphones. As Genbeta explains, the Renegade team took advantage of the similarities between the Snapdragon 850 chip and the Snapdragon 845 – the first is designed for laptops and the second for mobile phones – so that Windows works on terminals with that SoC.

The most interesting thing and what differs from previous experiences, in which virtual machines are used, is that the system runs natively and with dual boot with Android. Of course, the list of devices on which you can try it that Renegade provides is somewhat limited.

Among them are popular models, such as the Xiaomi Mi 8, Xiami Mi Mix 3, OnePlus 6 and 6T, Pocophone F1, Mi Mix 2s or the Qualcomm version of the Samsung Galaxy S9. Also models with Snapdragon 835 and 855, such as the OnePlus 7 or Xiaomi Mi 9. Renegade Project in fact incorporates a list of almost 40 compatible models in which it also specifies, one by one, which functions are operational and which are not, such as the camera , Bluetooth, WiFi, location or audio.

Playing CS:Go like on a PC

If you’re curious and want to try it out, Renegade Project details on its website how to install it, a process that’s not overly complex, but does require handling tools like fastboot or TWRP Recovery with ease. Beforehand, and as a preview, you can take a look at the YouTube channel Geekerwan, in which they have posted a video of almost 13 minutes in which they show what smartphones are capable of equipped with Windows 11.

His tests focus mainly on gaming. In fact, a little before the eighth minute you can see two people playing CS:Go with their phones and headphones. How do they do that? Thanks to a keyboard and a mouse connected with a USB support. That and, of course, Windows 11.

In the test they use a OnePlus 6T and Windows 11 recognizes 8GB of RAM. Of course, the limitation of the devices, devoid in most cases of video output via USB-C, prevents the connection with larger external screens that would allow get more out of the system.

The possibilities of Windows in smartphones show the little progress that, despite the promises of Ubuntu Phone or Continuum, has been made in recent years in terms of convergence, in the possibility that we can use our phone as a PC.

No title

As we already told you in crast.net, the arrival of the preliminary version of Android 13, in February, showed the possibility of using Windows 11 ARM in a virtual machine on a Google Pixel 6.

Although its practical applications are limited, the demo is strikingespecially if you take into account the modest results of Microsoft with its mobile platform Windows Phone, Windows 10 Mobile or its idea of universal Windows applications, the UWP.
