With James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over as co-directors of DC Studios last year, it was almost certain that major changes would take place in the DC cinematic universe. So it happened, but no one expected that they would be so drastic. Recall that in just a few weeks, the new helmsmen of the company decided to give up not only Henry Cavill’s Superman, but most likely also Wonder Woman portrayed by Gal Gadot. Dwayne Johnson and his Black Adam seem to be in a slightly better situation. He was just taken off the bench.
It turns out that the only winners of the newly built universe may be Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa. Especially the latter seems confident about his future in future DC projects.
According to Deadline, ahead of the premiere of the documentary Deep Rising (in which Momoa plays the role of narrator), the actor spoke in detail about the meeting with the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav. The star also referred to rumors suggesting that he would part with the role of Aquaman and portray Lobo.
I will always be Aquaman. Rumors are… I’ll always be Aquaman, so no one talks nonsense. But then other characters may appear as well. I can play someone else. I can be funny, wild and charming once in a while,” Momoa revealed mysteriously.
The fact that the actor added that he can be funny, wild and charming is a pretty clear indication that Momoa meant Lobo. It is not known from today that the artist is a big fan of this character. It is true that this has not been officially confirmed in any way, but it is possible that in the future the star will portray more than one role in the DC universe.
All we can do is wait for concrete plans for the future of DCU. We should know these in the coming weeks.
