Welcome to another episode of the series discussing the biggest upcoming releases on Steam. Publishers and developers have already shaken off the holiday malaise for good, thanks to which this week will offer many promising debuts. Among them there will be both high-budget AAA games and a large set of promising titles from small developers.

Premiere of the Week is Dead Space (January 27, 2023)

This week we had no doubts about which game to pick for the week’s launch. Dead Space promises not only to be the biggest debut of the coming days, but also of the whole month.

It’s a remake of the 2008 cult sci-fi horror. The authors promise not only beautified graphics, but also much improved gameplay, which will be enriched, among others, with o an intelligent system that analyzes our situation and changes various elements of the game to scare us as much as possible.

After the slightly disappointing The Callisto Protocol, which was announced as the spiritual successor to Dead Space, the remake of the first DS is what all horror fans are waiting for with bated breath,

Open Fishing XL

Today we will also play Open Fishing XL. This is quite an unusual production for a fishing game, because the author focused on retro style, modeled on 32-bit consoles like the first PlayStation.

It looks very cool, and the creator promises a lively large open world with over a hundred species of fish and easy-to-learn mechanics of controlling a fishing rod.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Ubisoft continues to return to Steam. Today, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, a tactical shooter from 2019, will be added to the website’s offer.

It’s hard to assess how this production will be received on Steam. It debuted in poor technical condition, but the most serious problems have already been fixed. At the same time, its disadvantage is the fact that its development has long ended, and the much better Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 was received quite coldly in the Valve store due to the lack of e.g. Steam achievements, which will probably also apply to Breakpoint.

Forspoken

One of the biggest premieres of the week will probably be Forspoken. It is a TPP action adventure game with RPG elements developed by the Japanese studio Luminous Productions, the authors of Final Fantasy XV.

The game looks beautiful and has a great movement system, but the horrendous hardware requirements and the fact that the demo released some time ago left a lot to be desired in technical terms. In addition, many people can be irritated by the extremely talkative main character.

mahokenshi

Mahokenshi, on the other hand, is a tactical RPG enriched with elements of board games and card games. The action of the game takes place in a fantasy land inspired by Japanese mythology, and the gameplay focuses on turn-based battles.

Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters

Tuesday will be a good day for lovers of RPGs from Japanese developers. In addition to Forspoken, Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters will also be on sale, which is the next installment of a niche brand with an unusual world, where each region of the land is inspired by a different console.

Unlike most games from this brand, which offer a turn-based combat system, Neptunia: Sisters VS Sisters will be an action RPG.

Warlander

Warlander promises to be interesting. This is an online action game using the free-to-play model, in which players will lead 100-person battles in fantasy realities. In skirmishes, we will use melee and ranged weapons, spells, and even mechs.

The game is to put a lot of emphasis on strategic elements – some players will act as commanders, and the maps are to be partly modeled on the MOBA genre.

The Japanese Toylogic studio is responsible for the project. Until now, it mainly helped other developers, having worked on such productions as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Kid Icarus: Uprising or NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…. Warlander is the team’s first major independent project.

WHALIEN – Unexpected Guests

WHALIEN – Unexpected Guests will debut on Steam on Tuesday. It is an action-adventure game that combines elements of a 3D platformer and a puzzle game.

In production, we will have to deal with mischievous creatures messing around inside a huge mechanical whale. All this will be shown with humor and cartoon style.

Forkscythe

To be honest, I have no idea if Forkscythe has a chance to be a good game. However, the design looks so cutely ridiculous that I couldn’t help but mention it. It will be a FPS with retro style graphics, in which we will fight hordes of demons with strange weapons, created from a combination of a pitchfork, a scythe and a handful of stalks. To all this, our hero will attach a mirror so that we can see what is happening behind our backs.

Handyman Corporation

Not a single week on Steam can pass without some game simulating ordinary civilian competitions. Such a title will be Handyman Corporation, which will allow us to become a handyman.

While playing, we will have to both perform various orders and manage our company. There is a free prologue available on Steam, which has been warmly received – 78% of user reviews are positive.

Death in the Water 2

The author of Death in the Water 2 recklessly chose the release date of his horror game a day before the debut of the Dead Space remake. However, I hope that this will not bury (or rather drown) this production, because it promises to be delicious.

In Death in the Water 2 we will play the role of a diver exploring dark waters filled with predators and monsters that obey the orders of the dark kraken. The player will have to collect treasures and repel the attacks of sea beasts. The money earned in this way will be spent on equipment upgrades, which will allow him to venture into increasingly dangerous regions.

Dread Templar

Dread Templar will leave early access on Thursday. It’s a FPS game that combines the retro style and complex maps common in the genre in the 90s with modernized control and combat systems.

The early version of the game met with a very warm reception – on Steam, as many as 93% of user reviews praise the title.

Duelist GG

The last few months have been the period of resurrection of the Duelyst brand. First, in November last year, Duelyst II was released, and this week, Duelyst GG will debut on Steam. This title is a production recreating the first part of the series, whose servers were closed many years ago

Just like the original, it will be an online turn-based game with elements of a card game. The business model will change. Instead of free-to-play, we will get a completely free production in which we will get all the cards only by playing. In addition, we can count on balance and engine improvements as well as additional cards.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries – Rise of Rasalhague

Roller Drama

Roller Drama promises to be interesting. The game will combine a visual novel adventure with strategy, casting us as the manager of a female roller skating sport team known as Roller derby.

The player will have to take care of maintaining good relations in the team, both on a sports and personal level, and give recommendations during the competition itself.

Strategic Command: American Civil War – Wars in the Americas

Another notable addition coming this week will be Wars in the Americas for Strategic Command: American Civil War. It will introduce five new war scenarios to the game, recreating various lesser-known conflicts of the 19th century, fought from the desert of Peru to the jungles of Cuba.

Train Sim World 3: ScotRail Express: Edinburgh – Glasgow Route Add-On

Thursday’s fourth notable addition will be ScotRail Express: Edinburgh – Glasgow Route Add-On for Train Sim World 3:. According to the title, it will allow you to steer a train on a route between the two largest cities in Scotland.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint won’t be the only Ubisoft game to finally hit Steam this week. On Thursday, Watch Dogs: Legion will also join the store’s offer.

The game is considered by most fans to be the weakest installment of the series, but it still offers a lot of interesting ideas. Unfortunately, this is another title that goes to Steam only after Ubisoft has finished its development and will probably have the same problems as other productions of this publisher recently released in the Valve store.

On Friday, Hank: Straightjacket will be released. It will be an unusual adventure in which we will direct a character who can manipulate time, caught by a supervillain.

This is a new game from the My Next Games studio located in Czstochowa. The team has a successful RPG Soulblight.
