The factory-unlocked Galaxy S20 FE 5G is finally getting the Android 13 update in the USA. The Carrier model got an update late last year, and the unlocked version is now following suit.

Android 13 and One UI 5.0 are now available for the S20 FE 5G variant that carries SM-G781U1 model number. The update includes the January 2023 security patch and firmware version G781U1UEU9FWA7,

The January 2023 update addresses some security concerns for Samsung Knox, Secure Folder, NFC, and more. But beyond these security improvements, this new update brings Android 13 and One UI 5.0 which are, by far, the more interesting additions for most users.

One UI 5.0 brings UI improvements and better performance

With One UI 5.0, Galaxy S20 FE users in the USA benefit from better optimizations and several UI improvements. The color palette feature is now richer, and the update brings a new lock screen customization menu with a live preview of all your changes.

In addition, the update introduces stacked widgets to the home screen, and the Settings menu was also redesigned in places. Now, there’s a new “Connected devices” menu for each connectivity feature, including SmartThings, Galaxy Wear, Smart View, Android Auto, and more. Even the Recent Apps screen has got a new “Background Apps” option that lets you better monitor and manage these apps.

And although it varies from one Galaxy device to another, generally speaking, One UI 5.0 focuses on optimizing performance and speeding up UI animations. The update should give the Galaxy S20 FE a new lease on life.

Unlocked Galaxy S20 FE 5G users in the USA will now be able to download Android 13 and One UI 5.0 when they receive a notification. or they can trigger the update manually by opening Adjustment app on their phone, access “software update,” and harness “Download and install.”

Alternatively, Galaxy S20 FE users who prefer manual update via PC can download the official Samsung firmware file from our website.
