🌞 Good morning, Daily Authority readers. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I’m thinking of gifting myself a new laptop. I have my eye on the new MacBook Pro with M2 Pro processor as I am a MacOS user for a while now. Here’s hoping I can convince myself to spend the bomb on this thing. Are you also looking to upgrade your machine? Here is a list of some of the best laptops that you can buy right now. Without further ado, here’s what’s going on in the tech world right now.

Google Pixel’s photography weakness

There’s no denying that Google makes some great phones. The Pixel is particularly adept at photography due to Google’s excellent computational tune-up due to its vast experience in AI and machine learning. But there is one area where we feel the Pixel phones lack when it comes to taking pictures, and it has nothing to do with the cameras.

  • The Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 are some of the best camera phones available right now. The range carried on with a bigger 50MP main camera, an impressive periscope lens on the Pro model, and a host of neat features.
  • However, there is one notable flaw with Google’s Pixel line-up, and that is the accessory ecosystem.
  • Despite a reputation for great camera experiences, camera accessories for Pixel phones are relatively few.
  • There are some alternatives, like the Moment(M) Force Case, which allows you to use MagSafe accessories on your Pixel, but that’s the limit of the third-party camera accessory ecosystem for Google’s phones.
  • Needless to say, Pixel-specific add-ons are in short supply.

lessons from the past

  • This is very different from camera-related accessories for smartphones in the past.
  • 2013’s Nokia Lumia 1020 and 2016’s LG G5 both offered camera grips. Huawei released snorkel cases for 2018’s Mate 20 Pro and later. Third-party brand Kraken has also released universal dive cases over the years.
  • We’ve also seen Essential offering a detachable 360 camera module for the ill-fated Essential phone.
  • Meanwhile, Motorola’s Moto Z series of smartphones introduced a number of camera-related Moto Mod add-ons.
  • There is definitely a range of Pixel camera accessories for enthusiasts or for specific situations.
  • We’d love to see Google and its partners release specialized accessories to take advantage of the excellent Pixel cameras.

Imagine being an Ivy League professor and receiving random messages from inmates. Well, that’s happening with a Harvard professor who says he receives thank-you notes from inmates, some of whom are secretly using smartphones to take their computer-science classes.

  • A prisoner in Georgia told The Marshall Project He uses the contraband phone to teach the other inmates.
  • He said he runs a group messaging group of 300 inmates, teaching them computer science using Harvard’s CS50 online course.
  • Group messages also include prisoners from other states.
  • In addition to inmates taking online classes like the man in Georgia, some pose as regular students in online classes, something that allows for online learning via Zoom.
  • Harvard professor David Malan, who teaches the course, says he has received thank-you notes from inmates taking the class.
  • Malan encourages incarcerated students to reach out to him if they are having trouble accessing the course.
  • It’s good to know that not all illegal phones used in prison are for notorious activities. This is a helluva initiative even by the inmate who created the group message.

have a nice day!
