POCO X5 and X5 Pro: Design renders leave no room for imagination

With the launch of the POCO X5 series, POCO is about to make its big foray into the global markets. The lineup brings the POCO X5 and the POCO X5 Pro and both the devices will launch around the same time. We have come across extensive leaks revealing the specifications of both the phones. Today, we finally have renders that confirm the design of both these devices. As speculated, the POCO X5 Pro is tipped to be a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. There is a Redmi Note 12 5G with vanilla revised (for good) specifications. Thanks to these renders, we have a good glimpse of the two phones, and there isn’t much left to the imagination.

POCO X5 and X5 Pro design renders are finally here

POCO X5 and POCO X5 Pro will come with center-aligned punch-hole design. The vanilla has a slightly curved back design, but we believe that is just the 2.5D glass effect. POCO X5 Pro has flat edges. Moving to the back, both the devices flaunt POCO’s signature big black rectangle at the top. The rectangle houses the camera island and the POCO logo (because you need to remember this is a POCO phone, right?) Both the handsets will bring triple-camera setups.

The leaked renders confirm that the POCO X5 will come in Gray and Green color options. Meanwhile, the Pro will come in Black, Cyan and POCO Yellow. The latter is a signature color for recent POCO handsets, and there’s also a yellow accent to the power button. Obviously, this color option also features a black frame which gives it a unique look. Also, it looks like the Blue variant will be very close to the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed in terms of design. Instead of big black, we have a different tone of blue that fits the color harmoniously.

Notably, the power button on both the phones will double up as a fingerprint scanner.

According to leaks, the two phones in the POCO X5 series will come with AMOLED screens with 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The vanilla X5 will bring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G, which is the biggest change over the Redmi Note 12 5G. Although the SD695 is older than the SD 4 Gen 1 on the vanilla Note 12, we have to agree that the former figures as a better offering. In fact, the same SoC came inside the POCO X4 Pro 5G last year. The Pro, on the other hand, brings the Snapdragon 778G. It is a powerful chipset for the mid-range segment with four ARM Cortex-A78 cores and Adreno 642L GPU.

The vanilla POCO X5 will have a 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide and a decorative 2 MP sensor of some sort. The Pro variant will pack 108MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide and the same 2MP shooter. For selfies, the former houses a 13MP camera and the latter respectively gets a 16MP shooter.

Other specs include IR blaster, NFC, stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The POCO X5 will pack a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. Fast 67W charging is available in the Pro. Apart from the display, the POCO X5 Pro is not a major upgrade.

The full list of specs is available thanks to a European retailer who spilled the beans. We do not know when the phones will launch, but we expect them in the first weeks of February.
