Warframe iOS beta: Digital Extremes provides an update on mobile release

Digital Extremes’ first dev stream of the year for Warframe took place last week, giving fans an in-depth look at the game’s new update, as well as information on other aspects of the game. At the end of the stream, the developers offered a brief update on the state of Warframe on mobile.

Kicking off 2022, Digital Extremes launches cross-platform play on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch. They also started a partial closed beta on iOS to stress test their systems and infrastructure.

It was confirmed during the stream that they are currently at max capacity for iOS beta users, though they are looking to add more people with another invite wave.

Although the goal is to eventually provide the full Warframe experience on mobile once it launches in the near future, it currently has some early quests (Prize of Vor and Once Awake) and early planets (Earth, Venus, and Mercury) as well as exploration until recently. is limited. Plains of Eidolon.

The iOS closed beta is also set to run for a few more months throughout the spring with plans to add new content like additional planets, quests and more.

A follow-up press release offered more insight into the status of the iOS closed beta:

Additional development work is being completed on other technical challenges related to trading, account linking, and cross platform saves, and the iOS closed beta tests have been positive and helpful in creating the best Warframe experience on-the-go. The iOS closed beta test will continue for several more months, and Digital Extremes will unlock more content along the way.

While cross-platform play was introduced, the next step would be cross-saves. They aim to work on that for 2023, but didn’t have much to share on it.

In the near term, Warframe players on console and PC can look forward to the game’s next major update, Citrine Last Wish, which is due out in February. Players will travel to Mars to go on Mirror Defense missions and will also play as Citrine, the game’s 52nd Warframe. And on February 1st, Warframe’s annual Valentines themed event, Star Days, begins. Expect new and returning cosmetic items, new glyphs and more.
