Poco’s new bet is already a reality after a little less than a year of waiting. Following the success of the third iteration of the X series, the firm wants to boost sales of its catalog again with the new Poco X5 5G and X5 Pro 5G. The new generation borrows some of the features of the F series, while also building on models like the Poco X4 Pro 5G. All this while maintaining the brand’s commitment to make its devices accessible to the public, since the starting price is in a similar range to those already mentioned.

Same design for both versions of the Poco X5
That’s how it is. The company has wanted to make its commitment more homogeneous with a design that replicates lines in the two available versions, with a more checkered chassis made entirely of polycarbonate and completely straight edges. Proof that the firm has started from a similar design is that the dimensions of the two terminals are practically traced, although the base model is slightly taller and heavier due to slightly more prominent frames.
If we focus on the screen, the two start from a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and a 240 Hz touch response rate. Interestingly, the X5 Pro 5G offers somewhat lower maximum and peak brightness (500 and 900 nits compared to 700 and 1,200 nits for the Poco X5 5G). Of course, it has a 10-bit color depth, as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection against the third version of the cheapest model.
For the rest, both have a 3.5mm headphone port, plus dual speaker setup. The possibility of expanding the memory via micro SD cards is only available on the Poco X5 5G.
Qualcomm in both versions: goodbye MediaTek forever
Or at least in appearance. For this new generation, Poco has bet everything on Qualcomm, with the Snapdragon 695 and 778G. In both cases we find 6 and 8 GB versions of LPDDR4X type RAM and 128 and 256 GB storage, which operates on the UFS 2.2 standard. The Poco X5 Pro 5G also supports virtual RAM expansion through Dynamic RAM Expansion 3.0 technology.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the main difference is found in the support for WiFi 6 networks of the Pro model and the version of Bluetooth, which presents a more recent version (5.2 vs. the Poco X5 5G’s standard 5.1). Likewise, both integrate a 5,000 mAh battery, although in the most expensive model a 67 W power charger is added, which promises to complete a charge in less than 40 minutes. By contrast, his younger brother offers a charging power of 33 W. On the other hand, the version of Android that is under MIUI 14 has not been revealed by the brand, but from tuexpertomovil.com we know that it operates on Android 12.
108 megapixels to conquer them all
At least in the Poco X5 Pro 5G, which replicates the photographic configuration of its predecessor, with three cameras on the back of 108, 8 and 2 megapixels with wide-angle and macro lenses. The Poco X5 5G is committed to an identical configuration, except for the main sensor, which reduces its resolution to 48 megapixels. We will have to see if they support 4K recording, although everything indicates that they do not, knowing the history of the brand in this type of range.
And what about the front camera? In this case, we find two 16 and 13 megapixel sensors respectively, with f/2.4 and f/2.45 focal aperture. Both have facial unlocking functions through software, which are added to the Power button that acts as a fingerprint sensor.
Price and availability of the Poco X5 5G and X5 Pro 5G
The two versions will be available from next February 6 at 2:00 p.m. and until February 13 at the same time, with an Early Bird offer on Amazon, Media Markt, PCcomponentes, po.co and mi.com from 300 and 350 euros for the 256 GB versions. Subsequently, its price will be between 350 and 400 euros.
