Chrome Gets RTX Video Super Resolution Support

Google has released a preview update to bring NVIDIA RTX Video Super Resolution (RTX Video Super Resolution) technology to the Chrome browser. published. We all know how successful Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology is in the field of gaming. Likewise, Video Super Resolution, powered by artificial intelligence, brings the same improvements to video streaming applications.

Before continuing, it should be noted that NVIDIA only supports AI video scaling technology on GeForce RTX 3000 and RTX 4000 series graphics cards. The company announced the RTX VSR at CES 2023 last month. Simply put, this technology takes video in resolutions between 360p and 1440p (inclusive) and uses deep learning and artificial intelligence derived from neural networks to upscale it to 4K.

The green team’s artificial intelligence solutions take the quality you can achieve with your existing hardware/software combination to a more impressive point. The video includes some gameplay footage from Apex Legends shot at 1080p using H.264 at 8 Mbps. NVIDIA has not neglected to make some detailed comparisons thanks to the split screens. In benchmarks, there are 1080p and game footage upscaled to 4K by artificial intelligence. In addition, it should be noted that the RTX Video Super Resolution feature offers video support up to 144 Hz.

Chrome 110 already supports RTX VSR, but NVIDIA needs to release a new driver. Google has released the 110.0.5481.77 update, which is currently available to a small percentage of users. This update will become generally available on February 7th.
