Recently, the topic of artificial intelligence skills has been discussed more and more often, also in the context of video game development. Strauss Zelnick decided to comment on this during a conversation with investors. In his opinion AI will never create a better one Grand Theft Auto than a studio made up of people. The tools that are currently being worked on, however, can help streamline the production process, and this will make the games more ambitious.
Strauss Zelnick in his speech compared ChatGPT to a calculator – as a tool that makes life easierbut it doesn’t make us suddenly stop understanding math itself.
We are heading towards interesting times when new tools will allow our and competitive teams to create really interesting things in an easier way. Thus, we will want to achieve even more. We will aim for even more creative solutions. We will not see a scenario where someone tells the AI to “make a GTA rival that is better than GTA”, then releases the game and it will be over. People will try it, but it won’t work.
In his statement, there was also a mention of the cost of production – with new and better possibilities, the ambitions of the creators will increase, so the costs will remain at a similar level. At the same time, attention can be paid to the circumstances of the creation of the games themselves, which have grown drastically and require more time and resources than ever before. However, it may seem that it should be the other way around.
Speaking of the Grand Theft Auto series, it’s worth quoting another statement from the head of Take-Two regarding the latest installment. In an interview with a representative of the IGN website, Strauss Zelnick also raised the topic of a huge leak from last year. WITH from a purely business perspective, the company has not been affected. Worse with employees, for whom the whole situation turned out to be very stressful and even frustrating. The situation is not improved by the fact that they may face layoffs related to a worse period for the company. However, if any are to take place, it will be small – assures the president of Take-Two.
