Intel VSR technology is coming to Chrome and Edge soon

It seems that video stream enhancement technologies are starting to be more and more requested by users. After all, similar algorithms have been used in smart TVs for a long time. After NVIDIA and its RTX Video Super Resolutiona few days ago we reported that Microsoft is also developing its Super Video Resolution technology to reduce the amount of bandwidth required for video streaming, thanks to the use of an AI upscaler that removes compression artifacts.

Recently intel has made an announcement that will make streaming service users happy: its new streaming technology Super Resolution Videocall, without too much imagination, Intel VSRwill soon be available on browsers based on Chromiumas Google Chrome And Microsoft Edge.

At present, this video upscaling technology is only available on some platforms such as Twitch And Bibili, but will soon be spread to other portals as well. Despite this, users can already manually activate it in Google Chrome by using a browser version 109 or higher and creating a custom link to the application. However, remember that Intel VSR only supports specific generations of Intel GPUs, starting with those integrated on Tiger Lake CPUs.

In case you are interested in trying this feature, right click on Google Chrome and it will bring up a menu presenting an option to see the Properties. In this window, go to the Connection tab and look at the Destination entry. In the latter, after the text already in the box, add the following code:

–enable-features=IntelVpSuperResolution

Intel VSR promises to dramatically improve video quality on supported platforms, delivering a high-quality viewing experience. However, it is important to note that any changes made to the system or applications can cause instability and should be done with caution. To avoid problems, it is always advisable to take a backup of the system before making any alterations.
