Do you remember MIUI+? It is possible that you have some reference by name, but you do not really know what it is about. We don’t blame you for it it is a productivity tool that quickly fell into oblivion, but not because it’s bad. MIUI+ was only launched in China and was compatible with Xiaomi phones that had MIUI ROMs from that country, so it did not have a major impact on other markets.

But this could be about to change, since MIUI+ is excellent and is ready to make the leap to the rest of the world. MIUI+ Global is now officialhas expanded its catalog of compatible phones and has a bunch of great features waiting for you.

To refresh your memory a bit, MIUI+ is an application that expands the interface of your Xiaomi. By connecting your device to an external display and running MIUI+, you will immediately enter the ‘desktop mode’, which allows you to use your phone or tablet as if it were a regular computer. It is very similar to Samsung DeX, although it has its own soul.

This tool was presented together with MIUI 12.5 at the end of 2020, but it was released a few days later, already in 2021. It is compatible with Windows and macOSso it covers a huge universe of computers What is it allowed to do? In addition to expanding your desktop:

  • Allows you to use more than one application at the same timeone on the mobile screen and the other on the monitor.
  • It has a shared clipboard between your mobile / tablet and computer.
  • You can easily transfer files between connected devices.
  • If you don’t like desktop mode, you can only project the screen from your mobile/tablet on your PC.
  • Allows you to reply to messages and receive notifications from the PC without interrupting what you are doing.

If you review the requirements of the Chinese version of MIUI+, you will notice that there is only one: that the tablet or mobile have the Chinese ROM of MIUI 12.5 or higher version. It works with any Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO device that complies with this, but it’s different with MIUI+ Global.

At the time of writing this article, MIUI+ Global was only compatible with three Xiaomi devices, its most recent flagships:

  • Xiaomi 13.
  • xiaomi 13 Pro.
  • xiaomi pad 5.

We imagine that the limited compatibility has to do with the fact that MIUI+ Global is still in beta development. Also, it may be that the company is thinking of uploading the MIUI+ Global requirements to a more recent version of its customization layer: MIUI 13 or 14, for example, although it is an assumption.

Even so, it is very likely that MIUI+ Global will reach more devices soon, because it is something that will benefit them. Besides, their announcement may already be official, but the app hasn’t started shipping yet.
