Google changes “the Weather” of your Android mobile: separate application and integration in the clock app

Google, the main protagonist of Android, has in this operating system a large suite of applications for all needs. The most common is the application named after the company, “Google”, brought to us by Discover. In addition, within it we have other sections such as the Time predictionrecently updated.

Well, apart from giving a renewed (and much-needed) look to the cute little frog from the weather forecast, the Mountain View company has other plans: separate prediction in one applicationstand alone‘ and by the way, link it to the clock.

Google Weather will be a standalone app

As we read in the specialized medium 9to5Google, the search engine giant has given some clues about the new exclusive app for weather. Actually, this new experience comes hand in hand with version 7.5 of the Google Clock, whose app reveals the change to us.

In this, references have been found to a new package that receives the name of com.google.android.apps.weather. Indeed, it has turned out to be a new application, different from what we already had. As we know, the ancient experience of Time integrates with Google Search, or ‘Google’ to dry. In addition to being integrated, it is updated together with this central app, as is the case with the Google Assistant, Google Lens or Podcasts, all under the same umbrella.

This makes it have some drawbacks, such as the widget itself that, although it is useful and beautiful, gives us direct access to the forecast of our current location, something really uncomfortable if we want to check the weather in other places. The new application will follow the Material You design lines in order to resemble the company’s operating system, with independent updates and better performance.

According to the outlet, the icon will be similar to the one we already have on Wear OS watches, which already has a separate app. This finding has been located in the Google Clock app, which benefits from the change. Soon, from the clock itself we will see the time of our location, including related data such as the current temperature, the highest and lowest of the day and several states such as Blizzard, Clear day, Cloudy or Drizzle, among many others.

Be that as it may, users we won’t have to wait too long: We will be able to test it soon, since an arrival is estimated before the official launch of the Pixel Tablet and the folding Pixel Fold, for next month.
