Meta, formerly Facebook, is the king of social media. Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram top the lists of the social networks with the most users. His name says it all. Threads in English it means threads. Meta wants such a social network. A reference for the media and for the rest of the social networks. And her attempt to achieve it is called Threads. Or rather, Threads by Instagramas indicated its official page. Already in operation despite the fact that we still cannot download the application. When will you be able to download Threads
Taking advantage of the umpteenth Twitter crisis, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has decided to announce that his next application will be available on Thursday, July 6. We don’t yet know if the launch will be global or exclusive to the United States. What we do know is that the app was published in the Apple App Store on July 3 (in its version 289) and that can be downloaded as of July 6. For now, you can sign up for a list for when it’s online, but you may not like its privacy requirements.
However, it is inevitable that Threads will be available to everyone, since it is translated into several languages. Among them Spanish. A separate case is his android release. On its official page you can find a Coming soon for Android. And there are those who have already had access to the app in a trial version. But there is still no exact date of publication.
Threads, an Instagram app
The description of Threads in the App Store gives us some clues about what this social network is and what it is for. For starters, his full name is Threads, an Instagram app. What’s more, in its technical file it is associated with Instagram instead of appearing as an independent application.
And looking at the official screenshots, it is clearly seen that to use Threads you will have to login with your instagram account. In addition, you will be able to interact with your Instagram contacts through Threads. And the design is similar between the two. So everything points to what Threads is an Instagram companion app, that is, complementary, but that you must use separately. The description itself says that Threads is an Instagram app from text-based conversation.
And from what we know, there are details of this new social network that you can only change from Instagram. Like your username or your profile picture. The dependency between the two extends to the blocking users. If you block someone on Instagram or Threads, they will be blocked on both.
What is it for and how does this social network work?
The rest of the description makes it clear that Meta has created a refuge for those who want to leave Twitter for something similar. In the absence of knowing the exact operation of Threads, everything indicates that Meta has adapted Instagram to what Twitter is today. While Instagram starts from videos and photos to start conversations, Threads directly bets on post text messages. And whoever reads that message will be able to respond.
The official screenshots indicate that, as on Twitter, the messages you post may get feedback from around the world, of contacts that you follow or of the people mentioned in your message. And although there is a character counterwe do not know for now the limit of the messages of Threads.
Threads’ relationship with Mastodon
