Google Removes NewPipe.net From Its Search Engine Due To DMCA Complaint


Bad news for the NewPipe community. Apparently, Google has removed the official page of this application in its search engine, at least in the case of some countries, due to a DMCA claim made by a French record label. Google has proceeded with this claim, which called for the removal of NewPipe.net, and it has been removed in several countries to erase NewPipe’s main trail: its official website.

NewPipe is a open source media platform that acts as an unofficial YouTube mod, used by many Android users both for their mobile devices and for Android TV itself due to how light it is. The safest ways to install this application are through its official page, which takes you to their site on GitHub where you get the updatesand from F-Droid.

With the first option out of orbit in some regions, it becomes more difficult to get updates or install the app in itself, in the case of new users, and even endangers the community. This is what seems to worry NewPipe the most and in his statement from the blog on his website they explain it.

The people in charge of NewPipe tell us a story that is a chronicle of many annoying incidents. Now that your website doesn’t have your position at the top of Google’s search results, they will not be able to have more visits and, therefore, they will fall further and further behind in this search engine.

The worst thing about this scenario is that other pages that imitate NewPipe could rise in positions, and, therefore, appear among the first results. Anyone who wants to get the NewPipe app and searches for it on Google would be exposing yourself to fall on a scam site more easily than before.

Faced with this scenario, NewPipe considers the possibility of take legal action to get your site back on Google. They even ask for the collaboration of their audience in the case of people who have knowledge on this subject, or are full-fledged lawyers.

Users have been commenting on it, and they are the ones who confirm that in some countries the NewPipe.net page does not appear when doing the search, while in others it does it without problems. In Norway, Canada, Spain and Slovenia everything is going great, while in India there is no longer an official page in sight from Google.

It is possible that if Google continues to respond to the DMCA complaint, begin to advance in the rest of the countries until NewPipe is completely removed from public view. Unless the team at this multimedia platform responds and manages to stop the assault.
