Infinix Smart 6 to launch in India on April 27, specs are far from impressive

Infinix is gearing up to introduce a new smartphone, which is named as Infinix Smart 6. The device will apparently serve as the successor to the Infinix Smart 5 and bring in low-end specifications. It is an Android Go smartphone, although it is not being sold as one. It brings Android 11 Go version and has Infinix XOS 7.6 on top of it. Admittedly, it’s not the best device for hardware enthusiasts, but should be affordable enough for users who aren’t too demanding.

Infinix Smart 6 alleged specifications

The Infinix Smart 6 packs a Unisoc SC9863A, which is a fairly old chipset from the era when Unisoc didn’t bother to give a friendly name to its chipset. This chipset is far from being optimized for the current era with 28 nm architecture. This is an architecture that was dominant in 2014 and 2015 and is not comparable to the current 6nm, 5nm and 4nm used on mainstream smartphones. The chipset brings with it 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 1.6 GHz and 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 1.2 GHz. The phone also has PowerVR IMG8322 GPU. In terms of RAM, the phone comes with 2GB but you can literally expand it up to 2GB. Talking about storage, it is available in 32GB and 64GB variants. You can expand both of these with a micro SD card.

The Infinix Smart 6 sports a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a maximum brightness of 500 nits. There is also a notch for a 5MP selfie snapper. Moving to the back, the phone packs a silver ion antibacterial material and brings a fingerprint scanner along with a square-shaped camera island. What’s interesting is that there are four holes, but only two have a camera inside. There’s a primary 8MP camera, and an unspecified depth sensor. The third hole is for the LED flash, while the fourth is just because yes.

Infinix could be the cheapest smartphone in India

The Infinix Smart 6 draws its powers from a 5,000 mAh battery, but don’t expect long usage with this processor. It will also take more than 2 hours to charge the phone from the micro USB port. The phone will be sold in India, but the price remains a mystery. Honestly, we expect this package of glasses to be under $100. Otherwise it will be a huge failure. According to the Flipkart promo page, the phone will be launched “at a price like never before”.

Infinix is trying to capture a portion of the Indian market with mid-range smartphones and low-end devices. Let’s see how it develops in the coming months. Worth noting is that it also sells smart TVs and laptops in India these days.
