Forget the new MacBook Pro, Apple is announcing something better

The move to Apple Silicon rejuvenated Apple’s MacBook range, and the first MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops launched in 2020 signaled a new approach to performance and battery life while maintaining the traditional laptop form. But technology does not back down from its elegance. Eighteen months later, you shouldn’t be looking at these MacBook laptops.

Tim Cook and his team are planning to do something better for you.

Much of the discussion about the Mac platform will take place at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference; Interactions with software, chips and hardware are all set to shape up.

First up is macOS. Apple has laid out a relatively fixed timetable for macOS (as well as iOS and iPadOS), with a WWDC reveal, a developer beta in the coming months, and a public release in late October/early November. In the case of the iPhone, the iOS and iPhone releases will coincide with older iPhone hardware getting an iOS update very soon.

One advantage here is that the iPhone hardware can be developed knowing that there will be a significant change in the software with the release… If there is going to be a compatibility break between the hardware and the software, this is the best time to do it. Is.

Under Intel, the Mac platform has never been able to offer a hardware update routine that can make the most of the MacOS update regularity. Now with Apple taking control of the hardware roadmap, Macs can now follow the iPhone playbook.

This means the next MacBook update will have a level of synergy unlike any other macOS laptop. The new version of macOS was developed specifically for Apple Silicon’s next-generation updates to the M2 family. The M2 itself can be designed according to the specific needs of macOS and features built into the hardware for better speed and better performance. And the sum of both the parts will be greater.

That option was never open for M1 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro laptops.

WWDC is going to lay these building blocks. The new macOS will definitely be on show. The M2’s capabilities – if not directly specified – will become apparent during the investigation of the code. And all of these will be bundled to offer a new consumer MacBook platform that will trump the specs of those first M1 MacBooks released back in 2020.

Apple silicon has brought a whole new experience to many users, but if you haven’t hooked up to them yet, hold fire. Tim Cook and his team are going to tell you exactly what you want next month.
