Google Pixel Watch prototype reportedly found lying in a restaurant

  • Photos of what could be the prototype of the Google Pixel Watch have been posted on the Internet.
  • The device, which was reportedly dropped at an American restaurant, looks like the previously leaked renders of the Pixel Watch.
  • The wearable is rumored to debut at Google I/O in May 2022.

In an incident that seems like a leak of an iPhone 4 prototype from 10 years ago, android central Photos of the prototype of Google Pixel Watch have been posted. The photos come from an undisclosed source who claimed to have found the device in a restaurant somewhere in the US.

The device appears to be very similar to the previously leaked renders of the reported Pixel Watch. According to the unnamed source, the wearable also came with a box stating that the device was for “internal testing and development only”. It also said that “the markings and packaging are not final.” This means that there may be some differences in the final product compared to this reported prototype.

Photos of the black smartwatch show at least one button next to the crown. The source added that the back face of the watch “looks like metal, but it feels like it’s coated with glass.” The person who dropped this prototype also left behind a blue watchband that looks like it attaches directly to the watch case.

Apparently there was no charger left with this prototype, although it is likely that the Pixel Watch will have a charging plate on the back case.

Earlier this week, Google applied for a trademark filing for a “Pixel Watch” that, until this image leaked, was strong evidence that the device was indeed on its way. Another report claims that based on some Wear OS code, the watch could be powered by a Samsung Exynos chipset. Google may officially announce the watch as part of its annual I/O 2022 developers conference, which starts on May 11.
