Elden Ring VR Mod Coming Soon, Thanks to Modder Luke Ross

An Elden Ring VR mod is coming relatively soon, as first reported by PC Gamer. It is being created by Luke Ross, the renowned modder behind VR ports for popular games like Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Mafia Trilogy and Horizon Zero Dawn.

Luke Ross explained that while a third-person view will be available, Elden Ring VR will probably be more enjoyable in the first-person view that he is developing for the mod.

Elden Ring Framerate Unlocked Mod Brings FOV, Widescreen Support, and Many Other Improvements

The third person in this game is really far away (about 5 meters on average) and it doesn’t work very well in VR. Instead of being in the thick of the action, you can say ‘Hey, is there something going on there?’ Still, I’m going to leave the basic camera as an option for purists. I’d probably also add an intermediate, close-knit third person camera. But I think the first person camera is where it is.

When rolling or performing other scripted animations, such as combat moves, the camera follows the character’s head (so its position changes) but accurately according to what your head is doing in real life remains oriented. So the horizon will remain level and the world will always look stable in Elden Ring VR mode.

On his Patreon page, Ross said that the Elden Ring VR mod should be available to supporters by the end of next week, though it will be a work-in-progress. He also warned that this would actually test users’ VR legs, indicating a decent amount of motion sickness resistance needed to tackle the mod.

The Elden Ring modding scene is definitely thriving anyway. If you’re not into VR gaming, you can still look forward to other interesting projects like the seamless cooperative multiplayer mode in development by LukeUE, who also delivered the unofficial Sekiro Online co-op/PvP mode.
