A million apps disappeared from the Play Store, why?

According to a report by Tradingplatforms.com, there are far fewer apps on the Google Play Store today than there were 4 years ago. Specific, in March 2018 the apps available were 3.6 millionwhile in March 2022 the number has dropped to 2.6 million.

Taking these data into account, the Google application store has starred a 26% decline in the number of apps it offers to its users. However, this is not negative, since those that have disappeared have done so not respecting the rules of use of the platform. Specifically, they did not respect the security or privacy of users.

Since 2015, Google has used a team made up of reviewers and artificial intelligence tools to control that all apps respect their usage policies. In case the application deals with private and sensitive information, those policies are much more demanding.

Google has removed a million apps that were dangerous to users.

As soon as the developers do not comply with the rules of use, Google is responsible for removing their app, which is no longer available in the Play Store. Therefore, this disappearance of a million applications in the last 4 years has a clear explanation: those apps did not meet the platform requirements and were dangerous to users.

Despite this reduction in the number of apps, Google Play Store is still the store with the most applications, with those 2.6 million that we mentioned before. Behind is the Apple App Store, with 2.3 million apps. If you have an Android mobile, you already know that you can download apps safelybecause Google is in charge of carrying out a good maintenance so that your data and devices are always safe.
