New iPhone 14 Pro leak reveals surprising size change

The leaks of the iPhone 14 have already revealed that Apple is gearing up for some major upgrades to its next-generation iPhones and taking some risks as well. And now we also know that the iPhone 14 Pro model will have a subtle, but satisfying, size change.

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Rounded Corners vs. iPhone 13 Pro Max

The credit for the discovery goes to the respected render artist Ian Zelbo (via AppleTrak), who explored Apple’s plan to make the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max “far more curved” than the current iPhone 13 Pro model. Plus, resizing is a fix for an existing iPhone problem that’s subtle but – once seen – something you just can’t ignore.

,[There] There’s a quirk with the iPhone 13 Pro design,” explains Zelbo. “The radius of the phone’s corners doesn’t match the radius of the camera bump (obviously, a strange decision for a company like Apple, known for their cohesiveness). is). ..Apple has substantially rounded the corners of the iPhone 14 Pro, finally addressing the awkward look on the iPhone 13 Pro.”

But that’s only half of it: “Plus the corners are more rounded, the corners of the screen are also more curved,” notes Zelbo. He also explains why Apple has made this change: Apple’s new iPhone 14 Pro camera bump: “If Apple keeps the same radius from the iPhone 13 Pro, it will result in a very uneven looking device.”

Zelbo made the discovery after studying the leaked iPhone 14 Pro schematics and pointed out that similarly leaked iPhone 14 schematics show that the non-Pro models will not make the same size changes. Why? Because they will stick to the old camera technology of last year, just like they will also stick to the old chipset.

Corner changes in the iPhone 14 Pro make for a more rounded phone than the iPhone 13 Pro

And this is the dirty secret of the iPhone 14 range. The iPhone 14 Pro models will see radical changes to their features and design (including losing the notch), while the iPhone 14 and new iPhone 14 Max are essentially the iPhone 13 with a bit more RAM.

The relatively affordable new iPhone 14 Max model should compensate for this in the eyes of many Apple fans, but there’s no escaping Apple’s plan to widen the gap between all its Pro and non-Pro hardware. And this will be reflected in their higher prices as well.
