Is Ubisoft Really For Sale? Let’s do some clarity

Ubisoft is attracting the attention of various private equity firms that may be interested in a future acquisition, as reported by Bloomberg. Blackstone Inc. And KKR & Co. presumably they would have studied the video game publisher, but there are currently no negotiations underway between the software house and the companies.

Is Blackstone Inc. that KKR & Co. they would still be in the study phase and it is therefore not certain that they will present formal offers a Ubisoft. Furthermore, despite the many difficulties of this period, the same publisher would not seem particularly interested in selling part of its shares. Proof of this is the attempted acquisition by Vivendi SEblocked by the same publisher for malpractice in 2018. However, the recent allegations of an unhealthy work environment, the flight of some long-time collaborators and problems with the development of new Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six and Far Cry could leave some chinks open.

Ubisofthowever, is working on a new title that currently takes the code name of Project Q. Precisely for this and for all the talent still available in the ranks of the developer, a spokesperson for the company recently responded to the claims of Bloomberg. The company’s position, in fact, is that of a strong and talented company, capable of creating some of the most loved franchises by players. Precisely for these reasons, the spokesperson classifies the report as mere rumors and does not say he is interested in commenting on the details.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Blood Brothers

Conversely, some new rumors would support the possible sale of Ubisoft. The sources, reported by Kotaku, basically confirm these rumors and added that the software house has been collaborating for several months with several external consultancy companies to manage various parts of their business. The position of the company, however, seems quite clear and, even if these rumors were confirmed, it is possible that it is only a strategy to increase the company’s revenues and not for a possible sale.
