Tokyo Disneyland: new Space Mountain coming in 2027



A new Space Mountain for Tokyo Disneyland arriving in a few years that will refurbish the existing attraction, which replicates the iconic Disney roller coaster.

The announcement of the new Space Mountain

Yesterday Tokyo Disney Resort announced that the iconic attraction, whose last renovation dates back to 2006, will be the protagonist of a ‘important update starting in 2024.
The renovation of Space Mountain will be part of an operation that in addition to updating the beloved attraction will serve revive Tomorrowlandthematic area hosting the laughs and that celebrates the future and innovation. The beloved roller coaster will then undergo one closing from 2024 to return in a brand new guise in 2027.

Space Mountain 2027 will remain faithful to the classic spirit of the attraction, which drew inspiration from the two indoor roller coasters in Anaheim and Orlando, but will include improved performance And new special effects which will increase the involvement and immersiveness of the attraction.
The Space Mountain of 2027 will aim to present itself as a new incarnation of this attraction, will be characterized by a ‘driving experience completely new and one new story exciting. These elements will be inserted into the experience starting from the queue that will narrate the beginning of a space travel in which to discover a new perspective on the universe.
Regarding the new story told by the roller coaster, Kathleen Davis, producer of Walt Disney Imagineering, defined this new incarnation of the roller coaster “a roller coaster with emotion and heart“.



A new square for Tomorrowland

The renovation of Space Mountain will not be an end in itself, in fact, in addition to this new version of Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland roller coaster, it will see the arrival of a new square who will wish for a bright future where humans are in harmony with nature.
