Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor ready to return as Kenobi?

On May 27th we will again see Ewan McGregor play Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Disney + live action series of the same name, which will reveal the past of the Jedi master in the years between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The feeling between the fans and the actor, who lent his face to the character in the Prequel Trilogy (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith), has always been very strong, so much so that Ewan McGregor is ready to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi even after the series directed by Deborah Chow.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor ready to return in the future as the Jedi Master?

To reveal it is the same actor in an interview with Total Film, in which he declares his willingness to wield Obi-Wan’s lightsaber again. A will that delight fans of the saga, who have always seen in McGregor a perfect interpreter of the youthful version of the old Ben Kenobi, brought to the big screen by Sir Alec Guinness in the Classic Trilogy (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Again, The Return of the Jedi). Obi-Wan Kenobi represents an ideal point of contact between these two moments in the character’s life, presenting probably his hardest moment, coinciding with the rise of the Empire and the apparent end of the Jedi Order.

Although it has already been confirmed that Obi-Wan Kenobi was conceived as a complete story arc, so as to be made as a series of only one season, Ewan McGregor does not hide that he is more than willing to take on the role of the Jedi master again:

If there was a chance to do it again, I would be absolutely available. Here, we are full stop, here I am again knocking on Disney’s door! It was great to come back to bridge the gap between me and Alec Guinness. I had to play him perhaps even more than I did in the first three films in total, thanks to the script, and to the people who made this possible, especially because of how everything is different than in the past “

When Ewan McGregor first played Obi-Wan in The Phantom Menace (1999), Kenobi was the padawan of master Qui-Gon Jiinn (Liam Neeson). During the Prequel Trilogy he faced the progressive fall of the Republic, training his pupil Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), who eventually turned to the dark side becoming Darth Vader, alongside Seev Palpatine (Ian McDiarmind) in his rise to the role of emperor. . In reprising the role, McGregor now finds himself having to tell the passage of this character towards the characterization given in 1977 by Alec Guinness in A new hopein what was the first appearance of the Jedi master.
