Does Windows 11 die? Fails to reach 20% of PCs

One of the main releases that have come to us from Microsoft in recent times is Windows 11. The software giant makes this new version of its operating system available to us, hoping for massive acceptance by users.

As it could not be otherwise, at first this software caused a stir among millions of regulars of this system. But immediately the criticism and controversies arrived, for example, with the minimum requirements for their automatic arrival. And it is that there are certain relatively current computers that according to Microsoft are not capable of running Windows 11 correctly.

This is a release that occurred in the past month of October 2021, but surely the firm expected greater market penetration at this point. We tell you all this because taking a look at the usage figures for Windows systems, it seems that this latest version has some Difficulty convincing people. To give you an idea of what we are talking about, in this month of April that we are about to say goodbye to, Windows 11 grew less than 0.4%.

If we refer to the general data of use, this version of Windows currently has in 19.7% market penetration compared to 19.4% last month. We must bear in mind that this Microsoft operating system is modern and in some ways better than Windows 10. But not all processors are supported and the device requires Trusted Platform Module support or TPM 2.0. For all these reasons, we could say that compared to Windows 11, the upgrade to Windows 10 was much easier.

Windows 11 does not achieve the success expected by Microsoft

To all this we can add that it lacks some important functions, some of them related to an important element of the taskbar. Therefore, there are several reasons why many users to date avoid a migration from Windows 10 to Windows 11. To what has been said, we must add that the system requires that we have an eighth generation or more recent Intel processor, for example.

market windows 11

To give us an idea, if we have a PC before 2017, it is unlikely that we will be able to install the latest Windows. Even if we are able to do it, the user experience will not be as good as we would like. In short, Microsoft is not getting the initial expected acceptance for Windows 11, but we can not say that it is making things easy either.

But as usual, these are not the only data that have been extracted regarding the penetration of Windows use. Here we can also see that Windows 10 21H2 currently has a market share of 35%, while the 21H1 update is in second place with a share of 26.4%.

Everything indicates that the growth of Windows 11 should increase over time, but for the moment this does not occur. It is also true that many users are waiting for the first big update of the system to finally migrate from previous versions of Windows.
