Lamborghini’s V12 is greener than one might think

Green”Is not normally the word you would associate with supercar with V12 enginesuch as the Lamborghini Aventador, or the largest SUVs available on the market, such as the Urus of the Lambo house, yet the Italian brand has somehow managed to make your engines greener.

In 2021 the brand received the Green Star Award, an award typically given to individuals or brands who have made significant efforts to respond to environmental emergencies. Once again, the award was given to Automobili Lamborghini for its efforts to become a more sustainable company. The German Institute of Hamburg, which deals with this kind of rewarding, awarded the prize after “a complex and detailed online search to determine the companies most committed to green economy strategies“. In total, the study accumulates more than one million references for each of the 2,000 companies analyzed: more than are taken into consideration 30 categoriesincluding ecological, social and economic sustainability.

Lamborghini is committed to surpassing all the results achieved by the other brands, thanks in large part to the site certification of neutral C02 productionobtained in 2015. Lamborghini also participates in a project of biomonitoring with bees, which could also explain the brand’s hexagonal motif applied to the grille of some models. In addition, the brand’s headquarters in Sant’Agata also hosts one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Emilia-Romagnaas well as a huge park that today it hosts 10,000 oaks. The brand’s production itself has recently become “greener”, thanks to greater action on the recycling of carbon fiber waste and a sustainable logistics project that has led to an 85% reduction in emissions produced by the transport of bodies.

For Lamborghini, this award represents a great achievement, only one of the first, considering that the brand aims to become CO2 neutral, at the level of the range, within the next decade.
