Huawei introduced on the domestic market successor to its folding smartphone from 2020. The Mate Xs 2 remains true to the large flexible screen that is still wrapped around the outside, not the inside, of the device.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 it only comes with a slight improvement in design, but with better specifications, although it does not reach the highest rungs, at least as far as the propulsion system is concerned. But let’s start with the most important thing – a flexible display.
OLED panel after dissemination 7.8-inch diagonal, 2,480 x 2,200 pixels a 120 Hz refresh rate. When folded, it has a 6.5-inch diagonal on the primary display side and a resolution of 2480 x 1176 pixels. In the upper right corner there is a small hole with a 10 Mpx selfie camera.
As otherwise, engineers have redesigned the joint – the mechanism that holds both sides of the device together. The company promises a long service life and especially a perfectly flat surface, so no noticeable folds should be visible on the display. He is also more durable. The manufacturer coated it with a polymer with a four-layer structure.
This is not the only thing that has improved over the previous generation. The original, up to 300-gram weight of the smartphone dropped to a decisive point more acceptable 255 grams. It is closer to standard flagship smartphones, which usually weigh around 200 – 230 grams.
Another new feature is support for Huawei M-Pen 2 touch pen. The large screen approaching the tablets is perfect for handwritten notes and drawing. As with the Mate X and Mate Xs, Mate Xs 2 relies on set of three cameras.
The 50 Mpx main sensor is complemented by a 13 Mpx ultra-wide sensor and an 8 Mpx telephoto lens with 3x optical and 30x digital zoom. Optical image stabilization compensates for hand shake. Memory equipment is sufficient, we are talking about 512 GB of storage a 8/12 GB of RAM.
In terms of performance, however, the consumer does not get the best, even if he does not have to compromise. Chipset Snapdragon 888 is still powerful enough, but we are already dealing with its newer version Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, the disadvantage is the absence of a 5G connection, only 4G is available.
In the end, it takes care of the endurance on a single charge battery with a capacity of 4880 mAh a 66 W charging. Due to the availability on the Chinese market, the Mate Xs 2 is powered by the operating system Harmony OS 2 without Google services and applications.
Sales in China will begin on May 6, 2022 with a price 1 435 eur (after recalculation). The version with 12 GB RAM costs 1 866 eur. International availability not reported. But if this latest jigsaw puzzle comes to us by chance, its price will be higher.
