The rumors had been in the air for weeks and the official announcement arrived yesterday. Batwoman, a CW series born as a spinoff of the Arrowverse, has not been renewed by the Warner top management. The show therefore ends after only three seasons.

The announcement came from a tweet from showrunner Caroline Drieswho wanted to thank the cast and producers for allowing her to make 51 episodes, while at the same time regretting the cancellation of the show.
After Arrow, Supergirl and Black Lightning, therefore, another Arrowverse show has seen its conclusion. In the first season of Batwoman, fans saw Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, Bruce Wayne’s cousin who becomes Gotham’s vigilante in his absence.

The actress then decided to leave the series in spring 2020, leaving space for Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, the first black actress to play Batwoman on TV. Several well-known characters from the world of Batman and DC in general have appeared on the show, including Killer Croc, Poison Ivy and Joker. Batwoman was also part of the mega crossover Crisis on Infinite Earthswhich aired in 2019.
In the season two finale, which aired in June 2021, Ryan Wilder was able to defeat his opponents thereby assuming the role of the new Batwoman with the help of Mary Hamilton and Luke Fox/Batwingas Kate Kane leaves Gotham in search of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne.
The third season of Batwoman, which aired in October, ended on a cliffhanger that unfortunately will lead nowhere on the horizon. Javicia Leslie and the rest of the cast also wanted to share the best moments from the show’s set on social media, showing in any case proud to have been able to tell the story of the DC Comics heroine.
