Square Enix trademark marks a return to popular PS1 horror series

A new Square Enix trademark marks the return of a popular PS1 horror series. When nostalgic PlayStation gamers think of the PS1, they probably associate the console with slightly different genres, such as JRPG and horror, two genres that the modern era considers at least compared to previous generations. is under-represented. For this game, in particular, it falls into the latter camp.

More specifically, on April 20, Square Enix filed a trademark in the United States fear effect, a horror-action adventure series that debuted in 2000 through Chronos Digital Entertainment and Eidos Interactive and a game of the same name. Upon release, the game sold well and was well reviewed. it took Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, which, despite its name, was actually a prequel. It also hit a year later, via PS1 and to similarly positive reception. The series was dormant until 2015, when fear effect, a sequel, Sushi, was released through Forever Entertainment and Square Enix. It’s unclear how it sold, but it was a huge critical flop. At the time, many wondered whether this would be the end of the series; However, a year later, a remake, Fear effect re-invented, was announced by Forever Entertainment. It’s been three years since we got a commendable update on this Fear effect re-inventedIt is therefore unclear what its status is, but it is possible that this new trademark points to its existence.

In order to renew the Square Enix trademark, it must prove that it is using it in some capacity. Although the guidelines for this are quite liberal, so this upgrade may not point to Fear effect re-invented Or some other game, but that’s the implication.

For now let’s just take the speculations here as to what it is, which are speculations. A trademark is genuine and new, but it’s hard to know what should and shouldn’t be made of it.

At the time of publication, neither Square Enix nor Forever Entertainment nor anyone involved has commented on the trademark nor the speculation created by it. If it changes, we will update the story accordingly.
