Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto, review

Thanks to the opening of a portal between the dimensions (the courier rang the door a few days ago) we were able to put our hand to the replica of theEye of Agamotto from Doctor Strange based on the first film of the same name and which we subsequently had the opportunity to review in Avengers Infinity War. It is one of those products that Hasbroa well-known manufacturer of collectible toys and gadgets, has decided to include in the line Marvel Legends Series which, in addition to action figures, also includes this kind of articles called Role Play which have the sole purpose of making you mad we fans who as soon as we see them can’t do without them. After testing it for several days we were able to grasp every facet by discovering the various features including lights, effects and other things that we will reveal below.

Eye of Agamotto – Packaging

Eye of Agamotto

Even the Eye (of Agamotto) wants its part and this time too Hasbro keeps the standard high of the package proposing the classic rigid cardboard casing, with considerably smaller shapes than those we have been used to in the past but with a respectable graphic layout, in perfect line with previous releases. The size of the box is definitely related to the size of the product itself, which being in scale 1: 1 does not exceed 25 cm. Inside the box, to ensure that everything is meticulously protected, folded cardboard compartments have been inserted which inside them contain the gem of Time, the talisman with the rope to make the necklace and the vertical support divided into two parts to be assembled between them.

Eye of Agamotto – Characteristics and Functions

After extracting each component from the box we also opened the battery compartment, in which you will have to insert two AAA batteries, positioned on the back of the prop. It did not emit any sound, since it does not have this type of electronic functions but once the gem, equipped with three connection pins, was inserted, we were struck by the green light emitted by the LED. Hasbro’s Eye of Agamotto works thanks to a mechanism that thanks to some gears allows the closure (manual) through a rotation of the ring and an opening of the Eye itself (automatic) thanks to the button hidden in the shape of the object. Almost all of the product is made of plastic, although the finishes and paint suggest that it may have been made of metal. The string of the necklace is perhaps a little too stiff and the attachment that holds the necklace behind the neck probably could have been made with more care.

But these, in the end, are just “paturnie” of a collector who looks at the nit. What else can this Eye of Agamotto do? Well, in addition to the opening simulation that we have just described, it is equipped with a singular function, in fact, on the back of the pendant there is a small button that allows the “release” of the gem from its housing. What seemed to be only a graphic effect with the gem that lights up by itself really happens, without going into technicalities that are not our own we can imagine that inside the green plastic there is a small rechargeable battery that allows the stone to remain lit for a few minutes without actually being connected, if this is not witchcraft …

L’Eye of Agamotto from Doctor Strange for the line Marvel Legends Series it is an object perfect for any enthusiast of the Sorcerer Supreme, able to surprise you with its dazzling light and the possibility of being able to extract the stone. It can be conveniently stored on any surface thanks to the pedestal supplied in the package and if you want to find a defect you could perhaps pay more attention to the noise of the mechanisms that allow the opening of the “eyelids”.
