iPad and Mac continue to dominate the market in 2022

Mac and iPad have been very profitable for Apple this first quarter of the year, so much so that they dominate their categories.

The period from January to March has turned out to be quite successful for Apple. During the first months of 2022, Apple has broken sales records for all its products, in addition to the fact that the iPhone 13 has turned out to be the company’s best-selling mobile. This success seems to replicate in other markets, such as the iPad and Mac.

It has now been an external report that mentions that the iPad and Mac market are the ones that dominate the world in their respective categories. This report confirms the results that Apple had previously announced.

Mac and iPad dominate their respective markets

In a new report from the Canalys website, it is shown that both Mac and iPad are large dominators of their respective markets. Although Total sales of both Tablets and PCs fell 3% compared to last year, Apple remains very strong financially speaking.

iPad and Mac manage to sustain themselves in a market with a lot of uncertainty

Despite the decline in shipments in the first quarter, the tablet resurgence remains strong. The market has now posted eight consecutive quarters of shipping numbers higher than the fourth quarter of 2019, before the pandemic. Looking ahead, the market will face increased supply pressure due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and COVID-related lockdowns in China. Persistent demand for tablets from Q4 2021 was expected to extend into Q1 2022, but the supply situation is now likely to push delays into Q2.

In the case of the iPad, Apple is down 2% from last year, going from 15.2 million iPads sold to 14.9. Still the company with the bitten apple outperforms its closest competitors, as second-place Samsung has shipped 7.8 million tablets and is down 2% in the regular market.

The PC market was great for Appleas this quarter has displaced Lenovo from first place by selling 22.3 million Macs, growing 1% and obtaining 18.8% of the total PC market in the world. Lenovo and HP, the closest competitors, had a dramatic 15% drop in total sales.

Tech markets have suffered declines in sales, which were mostly expected since with the end of confinement, work and school at home is no longer an obligation. But Apple has managed to capture the market monopolized by Windows, since 50% of new Mac buyers had never owned a Mac before.

Mac and iPad have been known to revalue, and now Apple dominates a couple of important markets for the technological world, as is that of Tablets and PCs. We’ll see how sales go in the second quarter of the year, when Apple has already launched some interesting devices.
