Xiaomi, OPPO and Realme will adopt Android 13

Android 13 beta 2 was officially released on Thursday at the Google I/O Developers Conference. Chinese smartphone makers including Xiaomi, OPPO and realme have announced that their models will adopt the operating system.

Currently, the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi Pad 5, and Redmi K50 Pro support Android 13 beta, which is free for developers to use. Developers can now use these models to experience the Android 13 Developer Preview program.

The Realme GT was one of the first to experience Android 12 beta 1, and now the Realme GT2 Pro will get early access to Android 13. This is a preview targeting developers, and the official version will be updated in the second half of the year. ,

OPPO on Wednesday announced that the ColorOS Developer Preview based on Google Android 13 Beta 1 update is now coming to OPPO’s smartphone models such as Find X5 Pro, Find N and OnePlus 10 Pro.

According to the official introduction of OPPO, the version of OPPO Find N is required to be A.16 or lower before upgrading. Users who wish to experience Android 13 will have to fully back up their smartphone data to cloud services or to a computer before upgrading to avoid data loss.

Android 13 beta 2 takes “Privacy & Security” as a major update. There’s a new photo selection tool that lets users restrict the amount of photos and videos an app can access, instead of allowing them to view their entire library. Google also plans to introduce a new integrated security and privacy settings page in Android 13 that provides a clear indicator of the security status as well as offers suggestions that will enhance security.

With Android 13, Google plans to roll out pre-made color variants that will apply a color scheme to the entire OS. In terms of personalization, Android 13 users can select a different language preference for each app in Settings. The new feature will be useful for people who are multilingual and use different languages depending on the specific circumstances. With Android 13, Google is going to introduce better multitasking capabilities for tablets through an updated taskbar.

In addition, Android 13 will support more interactive functions between smartphones and different devices, such as TVs, computers, headphones and automobiles. For example, one of the new features brought by Android 13 beta 2 is the ability to copy and paste data from smartphone to tablet.
