7 important things we just learned about the Google Pixel 7

Well, surprise us: The Google Pixel 7 is official. like. At Google IO 2022, the company gave us a long look at the upcoming Android phone, and now we know a lot more about it.

We weren’t expecting this at all, as the expected launch window for Google’s next main-series phones is around October 2022. We also saw the Google Pixel 6a, which we were really expecting.

Even though the Pixel 7 is still a few months away from launch, we now know a lot about the phone – so here are some of the biggest facts we just learned.

still have two family members

Like the Google Pixel 6 range, there are going to be Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Apparently the double-phone approach from last year worked – and it also suggests that the XL name, which Google used for a few years for its ‘Pro-like’ phones, is gone.

we know how they look

We know there are two Pixel 7 phones because Google showed us both.

The handsets don’t look much different from their Pixel 6 predecessors, with the large camera bar being an eye-catching design feature.

One change now, according to Google, is that the camera bump is now the same continuous piece as the frame these are made from recycled aluminum.

We also know about the colors: both phones come in white and black, while there is a yellow Pixel 7 and a green Pixel 7 Pro.

We know how many cameras they’ll have

There has been no change in the camera count for the Pixel 6 series: two are expected on the Pixel 7 and three on the Pixel 7 Pro.

The layout of these on the back has been rearranged a bit, and we can see the new sensor in play, but the numbers themselves are the same. We can also mention that the Pixel 7 Pro will use telephoto, not periscope, but a zoom lens.

They’ll Use a New Google Chipset

While Google’s Tensor chipset was used in the Pixel 6 series, the next phone will get a second-gen version of this home-made chipset.

We don’t know what changes the new version will bring, but expect it to be slightly faster than the original version on the Pixel 7 phone. It may also support some new AI camera modes.

They will run Android 13

Something we could have really anticipated, Google Pixel 7 phones would come with Android 13.

In fact, these will probably be the first phones to come with built-in software, based on precedent. Google didn’t say much, but that’s what has happened for most of the years now.

They’re getting a complete teasing cycle

One of the things Google’s new to the Pixel 6 series is that it started teasing phones pretty early on, so as long as they launched properly, we knew quite a bit about them.

Apparently the same is happening this year, as the Google IO announcement has undoubtedly made clear. But more: Google is opening a new hardware store in New York in mid-2022, and apparently the upcoming handsets will be available for viewing there.

So Google is planning an entire tease cycle for these next devices.

They will come with the Pixel Watch

The Google Pixel Watch was also shown at Google IO, and we’ve got a little more information about it than the Pixel 7. There will be some Fitbit modes, as well as an NFC chip.

Obviously, this smartwatch will have a proper launch when it comes to the Pixel 7, and we’ll see some great pre-order bundles that combine new phones and watches as well.
