The Apple Car could have a MagSafe charger

According to new patents, Apple would be working on creating a kind of larger MagSafe charger for its electric car.

Although those from Cupertino choose not to say anything in public, it does not seem to be a secret that they are working on the creation of some kind of intelligent vehicle. In fact, according to popular analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple Car would be ready by 2025, with less and less time left for its launch.

While the team behind the development of this vehicle has been changing on several occasions, the truth is that according to patents and speculation, a common factor would be that The Apple Car was a fully electric car. This makes sense given the sustainability values that Apple has been trying to instill in the company for years, but it also implies certain problems when looking for charging points.

The Apple Car could arrive with an improved version of MagSafe according to the latest Apple patents

While refueling a gasoline or diesel car is something simple in the vast majority of countries, with gas stations every few kilometers, finding an electrical charging point it’s not always that easy. In fact, for the Apple Car it will be even more complicated, considering that everything indicates that will have a special connector, probably very similar to MagSafe of Mac computers but larger.

Finding a way to charge the Apple Car does not seem to be an easy task for those in Cupertino

Recently, a new Apple patent titled Charging station with passive alignment mechanism and, although as usual few details are clear about it, everything indicates that it could be related to the way of charging the Apple Car. The idea that this patent conveys is a kind of charging point, in which the car would begin to obtain energy directly as soon as parking occurs.

In order to achieve this, the charger in question would arrive with a kind of sliding rods, capable of adapt the position of the charger to the vehicle according to the needs of each user. The charger could be attached correctly moving vertically and horizontally as required, so there will be no major problem if the driver (or the automatic driving system) does not park the Apple Car properly, or if the height varies due to some environmental factor or the load that the car carries in each moment.

According to this patent, as commented on AppleInsider, the car would have a kind of casing at the rear where the end of the MagSafe charger would be. In this way, when the driver approach the car charging point, this gate will open to allow connection to the electrical current.

This is what the MagSafe charger that the Apple Car would incorporate according to one of the latest approved patents could look like

The patent, attributed to authors Matthew M. Torok, Foster D. Collins, and William M. Price, also suggests the use of magnets to improve grip and adherence from charger to car, which is why it looks so much like the MagSafe charger on Macs.

Apple has patented a spectacular sunroof for its Apple Car

However, it should be noted that the fact that Apple has filed this patent does not have to imply that you will use it in the future. Every month we see various details, and it is even possible that another similar patent will appear in time to charge electric cars. Now, the fact that it is a large charger leaves more clues as to what could be related to the development of the Apple Caror some other device whose size is larger.
